Job opportunities – Greener Kirkcaldy

Development Worker – full time (part time would be considered); fixed term to 31st March 2017 initially with possibility of extension; salary in the range £21,000 – £25,000.

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and our environment. We are concerned about climate change, social justice and community development. We would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet.

We are recruiting for an experienced Development Worker to join our Community Engagement Team. This is an exciting opportunity if you have a passion for engaging communities in: climate change; eating well through food and growing projects; reducing waste; and encouraging everyone to ‘go greener together’.

We are looking for someone with proven experience of working in community development or environmental education. Experience of planning and delivering practical food and growing activities would be a particular advantage for this post. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, experience of delivering activities to groups, the ability to work with a range of people, and work well in a team as well as on your own.

We will consider requests for part-time hours.

We lead the ‘Cosy Kingdom’ partnership of organisations who deliver energy and fuel poverty advice services for householders across Fife – including community engagement on energy efficiency and micro-renewables, and advice on tariffs and switching. The service helps people stay warm while spending a lower proportion of their income on fuel, and develops skills and confidence for participants to take more control of their energy use and bills.

Our team of Energy Advisors deliver energy advice work in south, west and central Fife, making home energy advice visits, delivering talks and workshops on saving energy, and attending events to raise the profile of the service.

We are looking for experienced Energy Advisors with excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to tackle fuel poverty and to help our community go greener. We have two posts available: full-time and part-time.
